Our Curriculum

We are very proud of our curriculum which has been developed to promote creativity, collaboration and communication. Our curriculum aims to excite children and provide them with meaningful and memorable experiences which stretch them whilst developing basic skills which are needed to prepare them for life.

Our Creative Curriculum fills National Curriculum requirements but strives to teach skills and attitudes and enables children to make choices, experiment and celebrate their successes in a range of ways.

Some subjects are taught separately, such as Mathematics, Physical Education and Modern Foreign Languages and some Science and Music is taught is also taught in its own right. As a Christian school, Religious Education is also planned and taught discretely.

The main vehicle for our Creative Curriculum is literacy. Through our Creative Curriculum we aim to raise standards in speaking and listening, reading and writing by providing children with opportunities to practice skills in a meaningful context. We believe that we have a duty to encourage children to love learning and to develop independent learning skills through a rich and varied curriculum and learning environment.

We draw on topical and innovative approaches to excite and motivate children, for example entrepreneurial skills such as ‘Dragon’s Den’ or ‘Apprentice’ style scenarios, visits and visitors such as tours and dramatisations  as well as a wide range of trips to explore the richness of London and beyond.

All curriculum learning has a purpose and children enjoy creating outcomes to share with parents, carers, family and friends; each term classes will choose a way to share and celebrate their learning with others. These outcomes include fashion shows, exhibitions, quizzes, film showings, presentations, tea parties, auctions, farmer’s markets, coffee morning to name a few.
