Communication

As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher and you hold expert knowledge of your child's needs, strengths and areas for development. When you chose St Paul’s, we hope that you will share that knowledge through a strong home–school partnership. We believe, and it is widely recognised, that there more involved parents are in their education, the better the outcomes for children.

We want you to be involved in school life, interested in your child’s attainment and achievement and supportive in helping the to do their personal best in everything they attempt.

We ask parents to sign our home school agreement when they join the school as we believe that this sets out the best partnership between home and school and we aim to communicate clearly and regularly with you in a variety of ways:
Newsletters – A weekly newsletter will tell you what is happening and what is planned Click here to see newsletters
Parents’ consultations – These are held three times a year and aim to share your child’s strengths and areas for development at school.
Notice boards – Key information about school and other services will be displayed
Text Service – We use a text service to keep you up to date and remind you of upcoming events, deadlines and emergencies such as school closure.
Parent/Carer’s Guide to Life and Learning – This information sheet will be sent termly (half termly in the Foundation Stage) and will tell you all the plans for your child’s class in the coming term and help you to support their learning.
Curriculum Outcomes - We want to celebrate your child’s learning and achievements with you and your family and friends. You are always very welcome to attend these events which are published in the school newsletter.
‘Open door policy’ – We want to deal with concerns as quickly as possible, so ask you to contact us if you are concerned about your child’s earning, behaviour or well being. You can telephone, text, write to or visit the school to arrange an appointment with your child’s teacher, the Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher. We try to see you as quickly as is possible to deal with any problems or concerns. Please remember that Class teachers are not available during teaching time.
Coffee mornings and Support meetings – Coffee mornings and other support meetings offer you a chance to come and meet other parents and key members of staff or other professionals to discuss issues, such as supporting learning, health support, secondary transfer support or just to talk about being a parent!
