A DAY IN KEY STAGE 2

A day in Key Stage Two

 

8:55am       

Start of day

Children start with a mental maths session when key skills are practised for 15 minutes.

from 9:10am, there are two lessons before break time, sometimes English or mathematics, during the morning session but other lessons such as music, physical education may also be taught.

11:15am

Break time

The children have a 15 minute break.

11:30am

Learning

The children will have another lesson during this time.

12:30pm

Lunch

The children are dismissed into the playground for their lunch break and eat in two sittings at 12:45pm and 1pm.

1:30pm

Children return to class for their afternoon lessons.

1:40pm or 2:45pm

Collective Worship

Collective worship takes place at either of these times depending on the day of the week. Children will gather with the whole school (or with their class on a Wednesday) to pray, reflect, sing, listen to stories and respond to events.

3:30pm

End of day

Parents arrive to collect their children from the playground. Children in upper Key Stage 2 with written permission are dismissed to travel home alone. Children attending St Paul's Play Project go to the dining centre to be registered.
