Punctuality

We strongly feel that all children need a calm, settled start to the school day so that they can do their very best learning.

Children who arrive late often miss important instructions and learning, can distract other children and miss important social time in the playground with their friends before the school day starts.

The playground is open from 8:45am and the school bell sounds at 8:55am. Lessons start at 9am and it is essential that children do not miss the beginning of the day.

If your child is late at the start of the day.

To help you understand more clearly punctuality is categorised in the following ways:

Gold zone – 0 lates in a term

Green zone  - 1 or 2 lates in a term

Your child’s punctuality is in the green zone which means that your child is received maximum teaching and learning time and has a calm, focused start to the first session.  Please keep this up.

Amber zone - 3, 4 or 5 lates in a term

Your child’s punctuality is in the amber zone which means punctuality is becoming a concern.  Please ensure that they arrive at school on time so they can have a calm, focused start to the day.  We hope that they will be in the Green zone next term.

Red zone - 5 or more lates in a term

Your child’s punctuality is in the Red zone which means punctuality is a serious concern.  They are missing out on vital learning time in their first session of the day on a regular basis.  Please ensure that they arrive at school by 8.55am so that your child can have a calm, focused start to the school day.  We hope that they will be in the Green zone next term.
